Captain, Kpt Let (Flt Lt) Bohuslav Eichler Polish AF (RAFVR)

De Havilland Mosquito.

The aeroplane, KB397, from RAF Gransden Lodge, Huntingdonshire, ran out of fuel and crash landed in the grounds of Hatley Park, killing both pilots.

Mr. John Boston, of Potton History Society, described this incident as the pilot very nearly achieving a belly landing in the field just adjacent to the a stand of trees, but just not being able to make it.

I recently received an e-mail from a guy called Ross, who is Director of Engineering and Airframe Compliance involved in a project entitled "The People's Mosquito", intending to restore/build Mosquito "RL249" to flight-worthy status. The link to his site will display some stunning images of a de Havilland Mosquito and I strongly urge anyone with the slightest interest in this incredible aircraft to visit it. You may even be tempted to join and support it! www.peoplesmosquito.org.uk/
